Spain's Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) received on Thursday in Monaco, the award for best player in UEFA 2011-2012, surpassing fellow Argentine Lionel Messi and Portuguese Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.´

Iniesta, Messi and Cristiano reached the final after a final selection among players as Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), Xavi Hernández (Barcelona), Radamel Falcao (Atlético de Madrid), Didier Drogba (Chelsea and now Shanghai Shenhua), Iker Casillas and Mesut Ozil (both Real Madrid), after an initial selection of 32 players.
